10 October 2014 youth

Having just recently turned 17, I'm silently freaking out over the fact I have one more year before legally considered an 'adult'.

Where did the time go??

It feels like just yesterday where I was having my 10th birthday, celebrating having turned 'double digits'. It scares me that humans have only 8 years of being a 'teenager' yet 70 or so years of being classified as an adult.*

It may sound bizarre to you but I am honestly dreading my 18th birthday, simply because I'm so in love with being young. I'm at a time where life is exciting, and mischevious and possibilities are endless. I love the fact that my life is still yet to really begin, and my future is awaiting and yet to be determined. 18 means being treated as an adult, and after 18 comes less than 10 years of being seen as ''young' and 'naive'. Then shit really starts to get serious.

So, alongside this collection of images, here's to being young, free and having fun!

*Side note: I know it sounds pretty damn ridiculous that I'm only 17 and having this not-even-a-quarter life crisis...perhaps it comes with young age ;)

Over and out!

If you knew me, you'd know that I wouldn't exactly be considered as a 'free spirit'. Although I am up for pretty much anything and I love to break the rules, I'm too much of a planner to just 'go with the flow'. I am very ambitious, and have huge dreams that I continuously feel pressure on to fulfil them. I also have a specific travel list, of places I want to see before I turn 25. These places include Europe (back to Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris and the Italy coast), New York and Rio De Janeiro.  With my intense desire to travel to these places and make sure certain dreams happen in my life, I need to plan them in advance just to confirm that they will indeed happen.

So with saying that, the possible 'free spirited' side of me is diminished, in sheer fear that if I do not plan and save for my  certain goals they won't happen.

However, this doesn't stop me from envying the lifestyles lead by so-called bohemians. Jessa from Girls, Erin Wasson and a character from a book I read when I was 12, whom I can't quite remember the name of. Something like Indigo, Storm, or something just as cool. Going wherever the wind blows, meeting new people and going wherever you feel, with no real end destination in mind. Maybe for a few months, I'll pull an Eat, Pray, Love and just head off into the Big Wide World.

We'll see.

If I had the budget to create my dream wardrobe it would look a little bit like the above. Primarily black (I'm told this is both predictable but endearing); silky fabrics; split skirts; blazers and of course the perfect LBD.

My top 10 essentials list for every wardrobe:

Feeling some Dalliance Magazine inspiration over these ready to wear/previous time era grunge/friendship group/street kid inspired editorials.

How on point is the styling in each image, as well?

I've been seeing a lot of Louis Vuitton's Resort collection popping up in numerous editorials. I suppose the collection really is a stylist's dream. All those belted coats, varying materials and experimental dresses can lend itself to numerous editorial pitches.

Strong women doing what they want, when they want. Here's to taking charge, and holding our own.

26 August 2014 ch-ch-ch-ch-cherry bomb

'Bad nights causing teenage blues / get down ladies, you've got nothin' to lose'

Ever since watching 'The Runaways' a week ago, I've been intrigued by the whole 'rock and roll' scene in the 70s, especially the lives of Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. The movie depicted the two teenagers in their early stages of  their all-girl rock brand The Runaways', portraying them in a wild and gritty way, complete with promiscuity, worldwide touring and outrageous performances.

Combined with Daria Werbowy's black mullet in the recent Equipment campaign and my current dream of staying in roadtripping across the USA, staying in run-down motels and wearing distressed denim, I bring to you this week's musing board!
